BLM Releases Draft Environmental Scan for Whitewater River Groundwater Replenishment Facility Project

MORENO VALLEY, Calif .– The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public input on the Proposed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA Draft) for the Whitewater River Groundwater Replenishment Facility Project located in Riverside County. Publication of the notice of availability in the Federal Register initiates a 45-day public comment period.
The applicant, Coachella Valley Water District, is seeking a right of way grant from the BLM for its existing groundwater recharge facility in North Palm Springs, which is partially located on public land managed by the BLM.
The proposed project supports President Biden’s goal of meeting the urgent demands of the climate crisis by helping state and local agencies continue to manage critical groundwater supplies in the West for domestic, commercial, agricultural and industrial users. .
