Finding of no significant impact (FONSI) published

published information

The Environmental Assessment (EA) for the relocation of the Stehekin Valley Road to Mile 5.5 has been completed and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) has been issued. FONSI documents the National Park Service (NPS) determination that no significant impact on the quality of the human environment will occur from the selection of Alternative I in the EA, which will redirect approximately 0.25 thousand from the road to the kilometer post 5.5. This alternative was evaluated against a No action alternative in the EA.

The FONSI contains a summary of the EA, a rewording of the selected alternative, an updated list of mitigation measures, minor errata of the selected alternative text, the rationale for choosing Alternative I and a determination of the absence of alteration which concludes that there will be no alteration of the park’s resources and the values of the project.

The NPS will continue to keep the public and the Stehekin community informed of construction dates and plans as the project is planned and implemented.
