One of the award categories is the Environmental Responsibility Award.

The Environmental Responsibility Award gives companies the opportunity to showcase their journey towards integrating sustainable practices into their operations. All businesses need to consider their carbon footprint and review the way they work and make responsible decisions that balance environmental impact and business benefits. Companies participating in the award must demonstrate that they are:

Criteria:

  • An organization with a clear sustainable business strategy
  • An organization progressing towards ‘Green’ objectives in order to have a positive impact on the environment
  • An organization that has taken steps to promote the broader green economy to its employees, customers and stakeholders
  • An organization fully committed to improving its environmental performance and the efficient use of resources

The award is sponsored by Vitacress Salads, previous winners of the award and are true standard bearers for working with the natural environment.

Amy Collins, HSE Manager at Vitacress Salads, said: “Vitacress Salads is proud to sponsor the Environmental Responsibility Award for the fourth consecutive year. The award will recognize the company that has reduced its environmental impact – something close to our hearts at Vitacress.

“As a producer and processor of fresh produce, we depend on our natural resources and it is essential that our employees take care of our environment and strive to protect it. We are committed to making decisions for sustainable growth and are determined to leave things better than we found them.We believe that all other companies can do something to improve their environmental footprint.

“Therefore, we will be looking for those who have truly committed to this and shown real leadership in this important area.”

Last year, the award was won by Disatercare for their work in restoring and refurbishing items damaged by flood or fire and for the environmentally friendly processes they use.
